PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accelerate change processing for changing a sewing starting position or sewing restarting position and to improve the work efficiency of the sewing position changing work. SOLUTION: Sewing data containing stitch data for sewing an embroidery pattern composed of plural embroidery areas in different thread colors are stored in a sewing data memory. First of all, a leading address instructing the top sewing data in the first embroidery area and leading position data (X and Y position data) expressing the top sewing position in that first embroidery area with absolute coordinate system data are stored in a leading information memory (S31) and further while successively reading the sewing data for each embroidery area out of this sewing data memory (S33), a leading address instructing the top sewing data in respective embroidery areas after second one and leading position data are stored in the leading information memory (S37). Namely, when moving the embroidery area to be sewn forward or backward for each thread color through a 'color advance key' or 'color return key', the relevant leading address and leading position data can be immediately found.
