Process for preparing an enzyme pre-granulate with stable activity for incorporation into particles of an animal feed granulate comprises first producing a moist granulate from a mixture of: (A) 0.01-20 parts wt. (calculated as dry substance) of an enzyme or enzyme mixture and (B) 80-99.99 parts wt. (including moisture content) of an organic flour with a grind of 30-100%, the flour being obtained by grinding a source flour which has been treated with dry superheated steam and the sum of (A) and (B) being 100 parts wt. Optionally the mixture also contains (C) /~ 20 parts wt. (calculated as dry substance) of granulating assistants and (D) using a calculated amount of water to adjust the total moisture content of the moist granulate to 20-50 wt.% (calculated on the sum of the components in the moist granulate as 100%). The ingredients are combined by intensive mixing in a rapid mixer to form a non-sticky moist granulate with a desired particle size range, followed subsequently by drying the moist granulate and optionally sieving the dry enzyme granulate to remove undersize and oversize granules.
