The space heater has a casing (12) that contains a heat source and has openings (16, 17) which allow the convection of air through the casing (12). The heat source consists of a pair of panels defining between them a closed oil filled compartment containing an electrical heating element. The openings in the casing (12) allow radiant heat to escape and because the heat source is contained within the casing, it may be heated to a very high temperature. To accommodate the oil expansion, the oil only partially fills the compartment in the heat source and the compartment has a lower liquid chamber, which at room temperature contains oil, and an enlarged upper expansion chamber which at room temperature contains no oil. |
