Benzofuranone derivatives and process for producing the same

A benzofuranone derivative of the formula is claimed wherein R1-R5 are independently H, OH, alkyl, alkoxy or aralkyloxy, halogen, amino or alkylene dioxy group joined at R1 and R2, R2 and R3, R3 and R4 and R5 and R6 OH, alkoxy, aralkyloxy or carboxylic acid ester limited by the provisos that i) R3 is not halogen when R6 is OH; ii) R3 is not OH when R6 is OH or alkoxy and iii) R3 is not alkoxy when R6 is alkoxy. A medicament containing the above compound useful for treating hormone dependent diseases is claimed.
