PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a producing method in which the method for controlling destruction treating in the conventional reduction diffusing method is improved and capable of obtaining low oxygen-rare earth alloy powder improving the characteristics of a final product such as a magnet or the like. SOLUTION: A mixture of rare earth oxide powder, transition metal powder, the other raw material powder at need and metal Ca powder by the amt. sufficient for reducing the rare earth oxide powder is held at a prescribed temp. for prescribed time in a nonoxidizing atmosphere to reduce the rare earth oxide powder into rare earth metal, simultaneously, it is diffused into transition metal powder, after cooling, the heat treated material is poured into water and is subjected to destruction treatment while the water is stirred, when the water temp. reaches the temp. of 40 to 50 deg.C, the destruction treatment is finished, and successively, washing treatment by water and drying are executed to obtain alloy powder having the objective compsn. |
