PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer for obtaining a printed matter having good ink coating properties from an initial time of printing by smoothly forming a press plate on the printer, conducting a manpower conservation in the steps of press plate and printing, and further reducing printing misses, and a method for controlling it. SOLUTION: The printer comprises a means (means A) for sensing development of a printing plate material installed on a cylinder. The method for controlling the printer comprises the step of setting a printing state in the case of recognizing development of a printing plate material by the means when the printer receives a command of a print start. |
