PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the method and system for selecting the profile of a viewer in an interactive television system. SOLUTION: This interactive multimedia system is based on a network configuration, including a broadcasting network 120 and a return path network 140. Interactive data are multiplexed on a broadcast audio video signal on the broadcasting network so as to provide an interaction with an end user, connected with the return path network. Plural (N sets) filters are attached to a single interactive application in order to address to a specific social profile and to make the band width narrow. In this case, comparison between the profile of the user and a profile of the filter is continued until the profile of the N sets of the filters matches with a profile stored in a permanent memory of a terminal. When the profile of one of the filters matches with the profile of the viewer, the interactive application is executed, otherwise application is ignored.
