PURPOSE: A plasma display panel and its production method are provided to prevent the damage of a dielectric layer by a sealing material, and to be able to completely pack not to generate the leakage of the electric discharge gas. CONSTITUTION: The plasma display panel has; a pair of substrates(2,7) to contact by having a space of an electric discharge inside, and by installing a sealing material(12); an electrode for the electric discharge on the substrate(2) of one side; a dielectric layer(4) to cover it; the dielectric layer(4) formed inside the face of the substrate containing the outer area of a display area located the display area and the sealing material(12); the part(4a) welded the sealing material(12) from the outside of the display area formed thinner than the thickness of the part corresponding to the display area.
