An eye (1) views a photograph (2) in ambient light (3). Additional light (4) is provided by a small lamp (5) in the photograph support (8). The additional light is controlled by a potentiometer (6) and diffused by a polymer or frosted glass (7) and is directed along the plane of the photograph, travelling in front, behind and through the support.
