PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide sufficient service to a user individual even while giving high security to the user by recording characteristic data showing user's characteristics on a recording medium and providing a controlling means which makes a function correspond to the characteristic data. SOLUTION: A portable telephone 10 is equipped with an indicator 11 which displays the telephone numbers for transmission, an incoming call and other needed items, a keyboard 12 which inputs a telephone number and other functions, a microphone 13, a speaker 14 and an antenna 15. Further, it is provided with a fingerprint sensor 16 made of, e.g. a CCD array to read the fingerprints of a user and a card insertion slot 18 for inserting an IC card 17 to read the recorded data of the card 17 on which the fingerprints and other needed data are recorded. A collating level is set to fingerprint data showing user characteristics, a collating level is made '5' in a normal state and the collating level is lowered according to the conditions such as children and the old or the physically handicapped. |
