PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plug.jack type optical electrical common use transmission device and an optical fiber plug capable of unifying an input/output terminal in one system, identifying insertion of the optical fiber plug or an electric plug, and eliminating electrical troubles such as output short of an used appliance. SOLUTION: In this plug.jack type optical electrical common use transmission device, an electric plug or an optical fiber plug of an optical fiber cable is inserted into a common inserting hole formed in a holding body 25 to develop optical transmission function and electrical transmission function. An insertion identifying means 42 for identifying whether the plug is inserted into the inserting hole of the holding body 25 or not is installed.
