PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a safe television camera apparatus capable of interrupting the light outputted to an optical combination cable and turning off an AC power source as well when the interruption of light reception is judged concerning the television camera apparatus for transmitting data and power while using the optical combination cable between a camera control unit and a television camera head. SOLUTION: Concerning the television camera apparatus having a camera control unit 130, a camera head 100 and an optical combination cable 2, a control circuit 7 for detecting and controlling the state of optical transmission when operating, an electric/optic(E/O) converting circuit 1 for interrupting light output from the output of the control circuit 7 and a CPU 114 for controlling the ON/OFF of power supply to the optical combination cable are provided in the camera control unit 130.
