PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To promote to share information between an information transfer terminal and a portable information terminal by deciding the category of data, selecting an area corresponding to decision results, storing the data in the selected data area and displaying the data in a display format corresponding to the category of the stored data. SOLUTION: When a proper transmission start signal outputted from a PC port of a personal computer is waited (S11) and this transmission start signal is detected, it is made to be in a data receivable state (S12). A data body transferred from the personal computer after the transmission start signal is fetched and the category of the data, e.g. whether text data or spreadsheet data is judged (S13). This judgement is performed by the existence of a 'delimiter'. Although the data transferred to a data area corresponding to the data category is stored (S15 and S17) and the processing is finished when the category decision of the data is completed, the generation processing of a file name is performed at the time of storing the data (S14 and S16).
