PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve specificity to urea and to permit the reduction of the effects of the physical properties of a liquid sample to measured values by adding a larger amount of specific surfactant than the amount previously added as a surfactant to a reagent layer. SOLUTION: A reagent section is provided at one end of a supporting body 1, and the reagent section is provided with both a reagent layer 3 provided on the supporting body 1 and a development layer (sample supporting layer) 4 provided on the reagent layer 3. A test piece is for determining urea in a liquid sample and contains polyoxyethylene alkyl phenyl ether or polyoxyethylene alkyl ether in such an amount as to become 0.1% to 20% (w/v), preferably 1% to 10% (w/v), and further preferably 4% to 10% (w/v) at the time of dissolving in the liquid sample in addition to 0-phthal aldehyde or its derivative in an amount necessary for determining urea, a coloring compound, and acid.
