METHOD FOR CONTROLLING DRIVE OF VEHICLE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a vehicle drive controlling method for judging and recogniz ing whether a vehicle cutting in between a preceding vehicle being tracked at present and a driver's own vehicle is a vehicle to be newly tracked or not. SOLUTION: In the case of executing tracking control by controlling the vehicle speed of a driver's own vehicle 1 so as to hold an inter-vehicle distance between a preceding vehicle A running the same lane as the driver's own vehicle 1 at a target inter-vehicle distance, whether a vehicle cutting in is a new preceding vehicle to be tracked substitutively for the preceding vehicle A being tracked at present or not is judged in accordance with information corresponding to the inter-vehicle distance between the driver's own vehicle 1 and the preceding vehicle and information corresponding to the horizontal movement of the preceding vehicle to select a preceding vehicle to be tracked. Consequently whether the vehicle cutting in is substituted for the preceding vehicle being tracked at present as a new preceding vehicle to be tracked or not can be selected.
