摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide, at a low cost, a large-capacity positive electrode for a nonaqueous-electrolyte secondary battery by reducing the amount of gaseous carbon dioxide and water contained in air at synthesis. SOLUTION: A manufacturing method of a cobalt-lithium solid solution compound nickel oxide expressed by the general formula, LixNi(1-y)CoyO2, (0.9<=x<=1.2, 2.0<=y<0.5) as a positive-electrode active material for a nonaqueous- electrolyte secondary battery, has a first-stage baking process for baking within the range of 300 to 700 deg.C for 2 hours or more in air from which gaseous carbon dioxide and water are removed, followed by a pulverizing process at 100 deg.C or under, and a second-stage baking process for baking a product obtained in the processes within the range of 700 to 900 deg.C for 2 hours or more. A process for pulverizing active material is performed in an atmosphere of 0.01 vol.% or less of gaseous carbon dioxide and a water dew point of 0 deg.C or under.
