1,253,550. Instructional recording and playback. MATSUSHITA ELECTRIC INDUSTRIAL CO. Ltd. 24 Jan., 1969 [25 Jan., 1968 (2); 26 Jan., 1968 (2)], No. 4243/69. Heading G5R. Apparatus, e.g. a tape recorder, for playing back recorded instructions is controlled by a first control means which detects the end of playback of an instruction, to stop or rewind the playback apparatus, and by a second control means which detects the end of an oral response by a student, to initiate the playback of the same or a further instruction. Similarly-controlled tape recorders, for recording and playing back the instructions received from the instruction recorder and the students' responses thereto, may be provided for a plurality of students, and the second control means may be adjusted to respond when a predetermined number of these students have finished their responses. The first control means may respond, during both playback and rewind, to a break of a predetermined length in an instruction or to the cessation of a continuous tone recorded simultaneously with the instruction but on a separate track. |
