Polyurethane foams are prepared by reacting a polyisocyanate and a polyhydroxy compound in the presence of a blowing agent and at least one primary aromatic amine having a single amino group and consisting of aniline or a substituted aniline, in an amount of 0.05 to 0.2 moles of amine per 100 grams of the polyhydroxy compound. Conventional polyisocyanates e.g. toluene diisocyanates, polyhydroxy compounds, e.g. polyethers and polyesters and conventional blowing agents, e.g. water, trichlorofluoromethane or methylene chloride are used. The amine may be aniline, o- or m-chloroaniline, o- or m-toluidine, 3- chloro - 2 - methylaniline, 2,4,6 - trichloroaniline or o-anisidine. Preferred amines are aniline or o-chloroaniline or mixtures thereof. Conventional catalysts and surfactants may be incorporated in the reaction mixture. |
