In a sewing machine work is fed by a driven feed wheel 61 and as it is driven the edge of the work is located by a sensor foot 65 which through a servomotor moves the axis of the feed wheel to return the edge of the work to a predetermined line. The sensor foot is pivoted on a link 85 to a crank 87 which is mounted on the spindle of a potentiometer 80 the crank being urged by a spring 84 in a direction to keep the toe 66 of the sensor foot in contact with the edge of the work. The potentiometer is in circuit with a servomotor which is arranged to move the bracket 55 carrying the feed wheel 61 in a direction to cause the feed wheel to move the work towards or away from the toe 66 of the sensor foot. |
