PROCESS FOR PRODUCING ARMOTIC CARBOXYLIC ACIDS

PURPOSE: A process for producing aromatic carboxylic acis is provided wherein an efficient use of the upper space of the reactor and maximization of the reactor are possible by means of reducing driving force and vibration by simplifying and reducing the structure of the reactor. CONSTITUTION: The process comprises: transforming an alkyl aromatic compound in reaction solvent containing aromatic carboxylic acids to aromatic carboxylic acids in the presence of an oxidase in the reactor; forming a slurry by crystallization of thus produced solution; purifying the slurry, and; recrystallizing and separating the purified aromatic compound. In the process above, the oxidization and/or recrystallization is conducted in such a manner that the crystals of aromatic carboxylic acids formed in the agitator have average diameter of less than 500 micro meter, and the concentration of the crystals from the slurry is 60wt.% or less.
