PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To embody more flexible processing according to source fields which can be utilized in certain time by weighting the median samples to be processed in a certain period in such a manner that the number thereof is always odd, thereby selecting the specific filtering mode for each of respective pixels. SOLUTION: The median samples to be processed in the certain period are weighted in such a manner that the number thereof is always odd, by which the specific filtering mode for each of the respective pixels is selected. The pixels of the three consecutive fields, i.e., the pixel of the field to be inputted, the pixel of the centroid field delayed by a field memory 11 and the pixel delayed by a field memory 12 are supplied to a median filter 20 of this device. The average value of the pixel formed by delaying the pixel from the field memory 11 by a line memory 13, the pixel from the field memory 11 determined by an averaging circuit 14 and the pixel from a line memory 13 is supplied to the median filter 20.
