PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a luminance/chrominance signal separating circuit where no dot interference takes place. SOLUTION: The luminance/chrominance signals separating circuit is provided with a color extraction means 101 that extracts a color signal from a composite video signal by selecting a pass band, a luminance extract means 701 that subtracts a color output from the composite video signal to obtain a luminance output, a vertical dot detection means 201 that extracts a vertical dot component around a half of a line correlation frequency and around a half of a chrominance carrier frequency from the composite video signal, a lateral dot detection means 301 that extracts a lateral dot component around 1/4 of the line correlation frequency and around the chrominance carrier frequency from the composite video signal, a reference detection means 501 that detects a reference component from the composite video signal, and a comparison means 601 that obtains comparison outputs between the longitudinal dot component and a reference component and between the lateral dot component and the reference component, and selects a pass band of the color extraction means 101 in response to the comparison outputs.
