PURPOSE: A lens and manufacturing method thereof and optical pickup are to manufacture the lens efficiently and economically and to form a shape precisely. CONSTITUTION: A lens consists of a geometric optical part(20) and a diffractive optical part(21). The geometric optical part(20), which consists of glass as a non spherical lens, is to condense the laser beam incident from an incident surface(20a). The diffractive optical part(21) consists of a diffractive optical part of incident side(21a) and a diffractive optical part of an emission side(21b). The diffractive optical part(21), consisting of the resin, such as a thermosetting resin, etc., is to condense more the incident light and is formed by connecting the incident surface(20a) and an emission surface(20b) of the geometric optical part(20) to the resin.
