PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain both the suppression of granulation and the emphasis of sharpness by controlling sharpness intensity and the suppression degree of granulation on each pixel position based on granulation identification(ID) signal obtained by applying granulation ID processing including mophology filter processing to a prescribed picture signal. SOLUTION: An image processing block 70 applies sharpness emphasis processing and granulation suppression processing to an original picture signal f0 to obtain an output signal fout. A low frequency component fL is extracted from the signal f0 through a low pass filter(LPF) 72. The signal f0 is converted into a granulation ID signal fgranu by a granulation ID processing means 74 including a mophology filter processing part and gain (gain H) to be multiplied with a high frequency component fH is obtained from the signal fgranu through a lookup table(LUT) 76 as a LUT (fgranu). A product of the gain and the high frequency component fH is added to the low frequency component fL to obtain an output signal fout. |
