PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect a motion of an object with high presence regardless of a simple configuration by generating an image signal and a moving signal simultaneously and controlling the moving signal based on the image signal. SOLUTION: An image pickup section photographs repetitively an object field to generate an image signal corresponding to a pixel output in response to an incident light and compares pixel outputs outputted continuously for the same pixel to generate a moving signal denoting the presence of a change in the object field in the unit of pixels. The image pickup section consists of a unit pixel 1, a vertical read line 2, a vertical scanning circuit 3, a current source 4 a difference processing circuit 5, a horizontal read line 7 and a horizontal scanning circuit 8 or the like. A moving signal processing circuit (a switch circuit 12) receives sequentially the image signal and the moving signal generated by the image pickup section in cross reference with the same pixel and controls the moving signal based on the image signal. That is, the device generates simultaneously the image signal and the moving signal and controls the moving signal based on the image signal.
