PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control system to reduce the power consumption of a display device. SOLUTION: The device is provided with an LCD panel 1 which displays a picture, a video RAM 3 which stores the picture data to be displayed, a a cache memory 3b which temporarily stores the picture data being displayed, and a controller 5 which controls the panel 1 and a picture data storage section 3a under the control of a CPU 4. The state of a present address value is maintained until an address bus sets a next address value by a read signal or a write signal. The address bus is applicable to the address bus between the controller 5 and the panel 1 and to the address bus between the controller 5 and the LCD panel 1. The memory 3b can be provided for either in the RAM 3 or in the controller 5.
