PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a silver halide photographic sensitive material having higher sensitivity without using cyanide ions by incorporating a metallic complex having one or more specified compds. as ligands into emulsion. SOLUTION: The silver halide photographic sensitive material contains a complex having an imidazole deriv. of the formula as a ligand in emulsion. In the formula, R1-R4 may be the same or different and are each a substituent selected from H, alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, aryl, halogen, cyano, nitro, mercapto, hydroxy, alkoxy, aryloxy, alkylthio, arylthio, acyloxy, sulfonyloxy, amino, etc., a carboxylic acid and its salt, a sulfonic acid and its salt, a phosphonic acid and its salt and R2 and R3 may form a satd. carbon ring, an arom. carbon ring or a heteroarom. ring by cyclization.
