PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To confirm battery residual amount without having to look at a battery residual amount display in the telephone set that is operated by the battery. SOLUTION: When the operation of informing of a battery residual capacity is detected in a portable telephone set (S20), the residual level of the battery is discriminated (S30, S60), and number of vibrations are produced, such as once (S50) if the residual capacity level indicates 'level 1', twice if 'level 2' (S80) and thrice if 'level 3', in response to the residual capacity level of the battery. Thus, the user can confirm the battery residual amount without looking at a display and even a person who is visually handicapped can recognize the remaining capacity of the battery.
