PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the residue on an image carrier such as unevenly adhered transfer residual toner from arresting the charging uniformity and provide an uniform charged potential to form an image of high quality by dispersing the residual developer adhered to a charging means to uniform the charged potential of the charging means. SOLUTION: A electrostatic latent image is toner developed by the developing roller 2 of a developing device adjacent to or contact with a photosensitive drum 1, and the developed image is transferred to a transfer material 5 introduced from a paper feed part to a transfer part between the photosensitive drum 1 and a transfer roller 4. The transfer material 5 passed through the transfer part is separated from the photosensitive drum 1 and carried to an image fixing part. A residue 10 on the photosensitive drum 1 such as transfer residual toner is unevenly adhered to the surface layer of a charging roller 8 according to image pattern to form a charging roller-adhered contaminant 11. However, the charged roller adhered-contaminant 11 is uniformly dispersed by a sheet-like sliding member 81 arranged adjacently to the charging roller 8 and adhered uniformly to the circumferential direction of the surface layer of the charging roller 8.
