PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multifunctional peripheral equipment which can notify to other party device (a transmitter) that picture data are received at the time of receiving the picture data transmitted from the other party device. SOLUTION: A telephone number of other party device transmitted from an exchange before a telephone line is closed is written in a transmitter number memory (S3), picture data transmitted from the other party device after the telephone line is closed are received by an NCU and written in a picture memory (S6). Since a return message is transmitted to the other party side device of contents of the transmitter number memory, it is possible to notify to the other party side device that the picture data are received.
