The armature (1) is fitted between two sections (32, 33) of a gas main supply pipe. It has a mounting plate (12) for the conventional gas meter, an outlet connection (11) for the consumer, and a shut-off valve (6). The ball valve is operated (15) by a lever (14). The meter connection plate (12) has a gas inlet aperture (10) and a gas outlet aperture (8).
