The multilayer insulation material has at least two layers of a textile fabric (2A,2B) with intersecting warps and wefts. The separate fabric layers (2A,2B) are bonded together by intermediate multifilaments and/or monofilaments (3) and/or linking fibers of both fabrics (2A,2B). The intermediate locking filaments (3) are woven alternately into each of the fabric layers (2A,2B). Or the filaments (3) are bonded to each fabric layer (2A,2B) by an adhesive and/or a linking yarn along the outer surface of each fabric (2A,2B). Optic fibers can be between the two fabric layers (2A,2B), with at least part of the optic fibers used as the locking links between the fabric layers (2A,2B). The two fabric layers (2A,2B) are held apart by an injected and expanding foam mass. The inner and/or outer surfaces of the fabric layers (2A,2B) are coated with a pliable setting layer, to hold the structure together as a board.
