PURPOSE: A light irradiator is provided to exactly maintain a heavy-weight light collecting mirror of which an opening is upwardly formed and prevent breakdown of the light collecting mirror by improving light collection characteristics. CONSTITUTION: The light irradiator comprises a discharge lamp of a short arc type and an optical implement reflecting light of the discharge lamp. The light collecting mirror composing a part of the optical equipment and has the upwardly formed opening. A lower side of the mirror is upwardly pressed by a pressing member from a light collecting mirror supporter. An opening periphery of a light mirror upper side is maintained by contacting with a periphery of the light irradiation opening with pressure.
