PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provided a battery separator which uses nonwoven fabric added by hydrophilicity through ionomer as a means replacing for sulfonation, in relation to a battery separator, whose alkaline electrolyte has good permeability and retainability. SOLUTION: A first component is a copolymer of ethylene and unsaturated calboxylic acid or its anhydride of 2-6.5 mol.% in content for unsaturated calboxylic acid or its anhydride, and a second component is polyolefin that can form fiber with fusion point of not less than 125 deg.C. Aqueous dispersion liquid of ionomer, with neutralization degree by potassium ion not less than 60%, of homopolymer of unsaturated calboxylic acid or its anhydride of 5-100 mol.% in content of unsaturated calboxylic acid or its anhydride, or of copolymer with α-olefine is coated or inpregnated on the surface, at least 9 part of which is occupied by the first component of a nonwoven fabric made of these composite fibers. |
