PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a phase modulator that prevents phase errors and an amplitude error at phase modulating whose adjustment is simplified, and configured to be small. SOLUTION: This phase modulator, provided with a multiplier 2 that modulates a carrier with a data signal and provides an output, is provided with a frequency mixer 4 that mixes a 1st frequency signal 11 with a 2nd frequency signal 14 whose frequency differs from a frequency of a 1st frequency signal, and an output signal of the frequency mixer 4 is modulated by a data signal 12. A modulation wave, that is phase-modulated is outputted at a frequency different from that of the 1st frequency signal by applying phase modulation to a frequency signal obtained by mixing the 1st frequency signal with the 2nd frequency signal with a frequency different from that of the 1st frequency signal by a data signal and outputting the phase-modulated modulation wave at a frequency different from that of the 1st frequency signal, so as to prevent leakage between input and output of the frequency signal, even when electric coupling between input and output terminals is produced. |
