PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inspection method, for the outer-surface corrosion of a pipe, in which corrosion information on the inner surface of the pipe can be excluded and in which the accuracy of an inspection result can be increased. SOLUTION: While a surface-wave probe 12A and a surface-wave probe 12B are used, the transmission attenuation amount of a part, to be inspected, in a pipe 11 is measured. Its measured result is compared with the transmission attenuation amount, of a test piece, which is found in advance, and the depth of the corrosion of the pipe 11 is estimated. It is preferable that the obtained transmission attenuation amount is corrected by a transmission loas, and it is more preferable that the obtained transmission attenuation amount is corrected by the transmission loss and waveform pattern. Alternatively, surface waves of a part, to be inspected, in the pipe 11 are measured by using the surface-wave probes 12A, 12B, and the existence of the corrosion of the pipe 11 can be judged on the basis of an obtained waveform pattern. |
