PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hot water heater including a water amount detection/ water feeding apparatus suitable for construction of a freezing prevention mechanism of a hot water heater and the freezing prevention mechanism constructed by making use of the water amount detection/water feeding apparatus. SOLUTION: There is provided a water amount detection impeller 5 in a first tubular section 1 of a casing 4 (body) including the first tubular section 1, a second tublar section 2, and a third tubular section 3 all forming a three- way tube together for detecting a water amount by being rotated with a passing water flow. There is further provided a water feeding impeller 7 in a space 6 constructed with the first tubular section 2 and the third tublar section 3 for feeding water from the second tublar section 2 to the third tubular section 3. A water amount detection impeller 5 detects a water amount, and driving means 9 drives the water feeding impeller 7 for revolution thereof and for feeding water. The amount of water supply to a hot water heater is detected by the aforesaid water amount detection/water feeding apparatus, and water is circulated to a water circulation passage for prevention of freezing.
