PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To compensate a scanning line drift, caused by a change in temperature in an electrooptical image pickup unit. SOLUTION: A scanning line drift compensation mechanism 100 is provided in an electrooptical image pickup unit. The scanning line drift compensation mechanism 100 can be located so that it contacts at least one of optical elements 46 and 48 like a mirror included in an optical system 40 of an electrooptical image pickup unit 10. The scanning line drift compensation mechanism 100 is formed by two components 110 and 160 each of which has a different thermal expansion coefficient. The scanning line drift compensation mechanism 100 rotates mirrors 46 and 48 by adding a force to them in accordance with a change in temperature and has the scanner line in a desired direction. Thus, it is possible to have an optical sensor assembly 32 focus upon an image of an object 16.
