PURPOSE: A knocking control method for a multi-cylinder inner combustion engine is provided to reduce the knocking compared to a guide cylinder operated at direct knocking boundary in a follow-up cylinder. CONSTITUTION: A knocking sensor(11) is placed on a multi-cylinder engine block(10). A material sound sensor or a cylinder pressure sensor can be used as a knocking sensor. The signal of the knocking sensor is fed to a knocking assessment circuit(12) which is connected to a control device(13). The control device calculates real ignition angle(KZW) or real ignition point of time(KZP) on the basis of an input amount(14) grasped by the sensor. The knocking sensor assessment circuit sends the signal(KL) corresponding when the knocking is occurred.
