PURPOSE: The invention relates to new pyridocarbazole derivatives having highly selective cGMP-phosphodiesterase inhibiting activity. Conventional therapeutic agents require sufficient attention because the agents have possibilities of affecting badly to trachea and lung when they are administered for long term. CONSTITUTION: The invention relates to new pyridocarbazole derivatives having highly selective cGMP-phosphodiesterase inhibiting activity, producing methods thereof, effective preventive and therapeutic agents for diseases to which cGMP-PDE inhibiting activities are effective, hypertension or ischemitic heart failure, containing at least one of the derivatives as effective component and effective, and intermediates useful for producing pyridocarbazole derivatives.
