CONTAINER FOR NUCLEAR FUEL TRANSPORTATION

PURPOSE: A container for nuclear fuel transportation is provided to allow substantially higher volume proportions of enriched fuel to be safely transported compared to the conventional containers. CONSTITUTION: The nuclear fuel transport container comprises an outer container (1) provided with internal insulation (20), the insulation (20) defining an internal cavity (30A), the cavity receiving a plurality of fuel containers (36), wherein the internal volume of the fuel containers (36) is at least 5 % of the external volume of the outer container (1). The container (1) allows substantially higher volume proportions of enriched fuel to be safely transported than is possible with prior containers.
