PROCESS FOR CONTINUOUSLY PREPARING OPTICALLY PURE (S)-3-HYDROXY-GAMMA-BUTYROLACTONE

PURPOSE: Title compound useful as chiral intermediate is continuously prepared from aminopectin which efficiently removes subreactnats. CONSTITUTION: Amylopectin is enzyme-reacted to obtain an oligosaccharide having alpha-1,4) bond. (S)-3,4-dihydroxy-butyric acid is prepared by oxidation of the oligosaccharide by oxidizing agent through an alkali anion exchange resin. (S)-3,4-dihydroxy-butyric acid by alcohol at 30- 80 degree C in the presence of acid catalyst. Obtained (S)-3,4-dihydroxy-butyric ester is cyclized at 30- 80 degree C in the presence of inorganic acid catalyst such as hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid and nitric acid, fluoroalkylsulfonic acid, aralkylsulfonic acid, aralkyl sulfonic hydrate, trifluoroacetic acid to give (S)-3-hydroxy-gamma-butyrolactone(formula 1).
