PURPOSE: An active matrix type LCD and substrate used in the LCD is provided, which does not generate the problem of decrease of an aperture ratio and the problem of increase of a gate wire resistor. CONSTITUTION: The active matrix type LCD comprises: a plurality of data line (7) and a plurality of gate line (4) to be installed on a substrate; and a thin film transistor and a pixel electrode (11) to be connected to the thin film transistor, which are installed at both sides of each data line (7) and is corresponded to a plurality of gate line (4), wherein a plurality of gate line (4) is arranged for controlling the pixel electrode (11) at both sides of the data line (7) by a signal of a gate line corresponding to a pair of gate line. Thereby, it is possible to efficiently use the gate line as a charging capacitance.
