The silage bale press (1) consists mainly of a bale shaping compartment (2) which is lined with several cylindrical bale shaping elements (3). There is a device (12) for manual adjustment of the pre-tensioning. This is positioned opposite the inlet (4). The adjustment device consists of a lever (14) joined to an axle (18) by a cross-joint (16) and the locking device (13) for the lever. Lifting or lowering the lever results in a change in tension of spring (9) which will lead to the production of bales of variable density.
