PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magneto-resistance effect type head(MR head) excellent in linear response and suppressed in Barkhausen noise by adopting a Pt-Mn alloy of an antiferromagnetic film excellent in corrosion resistance and capable of applying an exchange anisotropic magnetic field required and sufficient for an ultrathin film. SOLUTION: In the spin value magneto-resistance effect type head having a sandwich structure of a Free magnetic layer 7/non-magnetic intermediate layer 8/Pinned magnetic layer 9 and provided with an antiferromagnetic material layer 13 being in direct contact with a ferromagnetic layer to be the Free magnetic layer 7, the antiferromagnetic material layer 13 consists of the Pt-Mn alloy, a mutual diffusion layer is formed on the boundary between the antiferromagnetic material layer 13 and the Free magnetic layer 7 and the longitudinal bias magnetic field is given to the Free magnetic layer 7 by the exchange anisotropic magnetic field working between the antiferromagnetic material layer 13 and the Free magnetic layer 7 through the mutual magnetic layer.
