PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording and reproducing device which can secure a sufficient pass band in accordance with a signal and can supply an optimum recording signal to a head. SOLUTION: This recording and reproducing device is provided with a rotary transformer 10 in which plural taps are provided between the leading end of a primary winding and the final end, tap switching means 17, 18 for selecting the range of a coil to be driven by the primary winding, and complementary type driving means 21, 22, 26 for driving the primary winding selected by the tap switching means with a constant current alternately. As the pass band of the rotary transformer is switched by switching a tap of the rotary transformer in accordance with the band of a signal, the pass band to be always required by a signal can be secured, an optimum driving signal can be supplied to a write-in head.
