PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively avoid an image deteriorating phenomenon (what is called an oil ghost phenomenon) caused by locally shifting releasing agent from a fixing device to an intermediate transfer body. SOLUTION: The fixing device 5 used for a double-sided image forming device is equipped with a pair of fixing members 5a and 5b rolling in contact with each other, nipping and carrying a sheet 4 and fixing an unfixed image on the sheet 4, a releasing agent supply means 7 installed in the member 5a positioned at least on the unfixed image carrying surface side of the sheet 4 and supplying the releasing agent to the member 5a by a fixed amount, an interlocking mechanism 8 making a pair of members 5a and 5b rolling in contact with each other and interlocking a pair of members 5a and 5b and the supply means 7 so that the releasing agent may be supplied to a pair of members 5a and 5b, and an interlocking control means 9 controlling the interlocking time of the mechanism 8 in accordance with the carrying span of the sheet 4 leading to a nip area between the members 5a and 5b when a double-sided mode is selected.
