READING METHOD FOR TWO-DIMENSIONAL CODE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reading method for a two-dimensional code which prevents the two-dimensional code from being misread owing to a stain nearby the two-dimensional code. SOLUTION: A reference line decision means 8 which has cells arranged in matrix is placed over image information IP expanded in an image memory and then rotated to estimate a row ny where more than a specific number of black cells are successive on the reference line decision means 8 as an X- axial reference line. Lines ny-1 to ny-4 and ny+1 to ny+4 above and below the estimated X-axial reference line ny are scanned respectively and the estimated X-axial reference line ny is determined as an X-axial reference line Lx on condition that while more than a specific number of black cells are present on the rows ny+1 to ny+4 on one side of the scanning, more than a specific number of black cells are not present on the rows ny-1 to ny-4 on the other side.
