PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a wad counter capable of stabilizing the storing attitude of the wads and stably counting the wads bundles. SOLUTION: A sealed ward paying machine has a wad safe 83 for storing wads each of which is obtained by bundling 100 sheets of paper money. A counting sensor 113 is arranged in the safe 83 so as to be moved along the layered direction of the wads. Plural ribs 131 extended in the wad stacking direction are projected from the inner wall of the safe 83. Regulation boards 181, 182 for preventing a wad part from approaching the sensor 113 beyond the regulation by these ribs 131 are arranged at positions adjacent to the sensor 113.
