PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical waveguide which is free from roughening of a core flank, mixing of clusters in a core glass film, an increase in scatter loss, and deformation at the time of a heat treatment. SOLUTION: The core 2 of the optical waveguide is formed of a composite oxide, obtained by adding SiO2, TiO2, and other oxides of >=1 kind together, in a rectangularly sectioned shape to eliminate the roughening of the flank of the core 2, the mixing of clusters in the core glass film, the increase in scatter loss, and the deformation at the time of the heat treatment. |
